Lay’s Thailand Exotic Flavors Review: Which Ones to Try?

Updated on January 5, 2026

Walking into a Thai 7-Eleven and heading to the snack aisle is a colorful experience. Forget about just “Salted” or “Barbecue.” In Thailand, Lay’s potato chips come in flavors like Grilled Prawn, Sweet Basil, and even Mieng Kam. Today, we are reviewing the top exotic flavors you can only find here.

1. Lay’s Rock: Mieng Kam Krob Ros (The Must-Try)

This is the “Holy Grail” of Thai Lay’s. Inspired by the traditional Thai snack Mieng Kam, these chips taste like a mix of lime, ginger, chili, coconut, and shrimp.

  • Taste Profile: Sweet, sour, and slightly spicy.
  • Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5/5)

2. Lay’s Grilled Prawn with Seafood Sauce

If you love Thai seafood, this is for you. It comes with two types of chips in one bag: one that tastes like grilled river prawns and another that tastes like the iconic green spicy seafood dipping sauce.

  • Taste Profile: Smoky and zesty with a kick of heat.
  • Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐☆ (4/5)

3. Lay’s Sweet Basil

A classic Thai herb flavor. It smells exactly like a fresh plate of Pad Krapow the moment you open the bag.

  • Taste Profile: Herby, aromatic, and slightly sweet.
  • Rating: ⭐⭐⭐☆☆ (3.5/5)

Pros & Cons

Pros:

  • Super cheap (under $1 USD).
  • Unique flavors you won’t find in Europe or the US.
  • Small bags are perfect for trying many types.

Cons:

  • Limited edition flavors disappear quickly.
  • Some flavors can be quite spicy for sensitive palates.

Final Verdict

If you only have space in your suitcase for one bag, go for the Mieng Kam Krob Ros. It is the most authentic Thai experience you can get in a potato chip.
