Pocky Crushed Nuts Review: White Chocolate, Coconut & Cashew

Walking down the snack aisle in a Thai 7-Eleven, you’ll see dozens of Pocky varieties. But the green box of Pocky Crushed Nuts stands out. It promises a more “sophisticated” experience using whole wheat sticks, real coconut bits, and crushed cashews, all coated in white chocolate. It sounds like a tropical dream, but as I found out, the reality is a bit more cloying.

The Experience (The 2.1 Analysis)

I’m giving this a 2.1 out of 5. While the ingredients list sounds high-end, the balance is completely off:

  • The Sweetness: This is the main reason for the 2.1 rating. White chocolate is already the sweetest of all chocolates, and when you combine it with a coconut-flavored coating, it becomes incredibly sugary. After just two sticks, the sweetness becomes overwhelming.
  • The Texture: This is the one highlight. The “Crushed Nuts” (cashews) and real coconut bits give it a great, chunky texture that contrasts well with the crunch of the whole wheat biscuit.
  • The Flavor Profile: The coconut flavor feels a bit artificial, reminiscent of a heavy coconut syrup rather than fresh fruit. The delicate flavor of the cashews gets completely lost under the mountain of white chocolate.

Why a 2.1?

It earns a 2.1 because a snack should be something you want to keep eating. With this version, the sugar hit is so intense that it’s hard to finish even a small pack. It lacks the balance of the dark chocolate versions or even the standard strawberry Pocky. If you don’t have a massive sweet tooth, this will likely be “too much” for you.

Pros & Cons

Pros:

  • Excellent Texture: The combination of whole wheat and crushed nuts is very satisfying.
  • Premium Ingredients: Real coconut and cashews are a nice touch for a convenience store snack.

Cons:

  • Intense Sweetness: Easily one of the sweetest Pocky varieties on the market.
  • Artificial Notes: The coconut flavoring feels a bit “perfume-like.”
  • Poor Balance: The white chocolate drowns out all the other subtle flavors.

FAQ

Is it different from standard Pocky? Yes. The stick itself is made from whole wheat, which is heartier and crunchier than the standard pale biscuit stick used in basic Pocky.

Are there other “Crushed Nuts” flavors? Yes, there is usually an Almond/Milk Chocolate version which tends to be much better balanced than this white chocolate/coconut variant.

Does it contain real nuts? Yes, it contains crushed cashews, so those with nut allergies should definitely avoid this one.

Final Verdict

The Pocky Crushed Nuts (White Chocolate & Coconut) is a 2.1/5. It looks great and the texture is interesting, but the flavor is just too sugary to be enjoyable for a full session. If you love white chocolate and drink your coffee with three sugars, you might like it—otherwise, stick to the classic chocolate version.
